Invisalign is an effective treatment that can resolve a range of issues.

The benefits of orthodontic treatment are numerous, but for many people the thought of wearing braces is enough to deter them. Fortunately, new advancements in dental technology have created an alternative that’s nearly invisible and doesn’t require metal brackets or wires. Invisalign works by using a series of clear plastic aligners that you wear over your teeth while they gradually shift into place. It’s not only convenient; but can also be used to resolve a wide range of orthodontic issues.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment that involves the use of clear plastic aligners. The plastic with which the aligners are made is thin and flexible, and is almost completely invisible. The clear aligners are custom-made and are designed to fit very securely over the teeth. They work by applying constant pressure to the teeth, gradually forcing them to shift into new, better positions over time.

What issues can be resolved with Invisalign?

Invisalign can be used to resolve a range of issues. These include crowding and spacing problems, as well as bite-related issues like overbite, underbite, and crossbite. The treatment may also be recommended for the treatment of gaps between the teeth.

It is important to know that while Invisalign is often an effective option when it comes to treating a range of orthodontic concerns, certain complex cases may be better suited to traditional braces. Your orthodontist will let you know which treatment is most appropriate for you.

What does the treatment involve?

If you are considering Invisalign, the first step is to see your dentist for a consultation. Your orthodontist will examine your teeth and confirm whether or not the treatment is right for you.

If you decide to go ahead with Invisalign, your orthodontist will create a 3D image of your mouth, which will be used to create a customised treatment plan. The plan will then be used to fabricate a series of clear aligners to fit your mouth comfortably.

Your orthodontist will let you know how long you should wear your aligners for before moving onto the next set. In most cases, you will need to change your aligners every week or two. You will need to wear your aligners for up to 22 hours a day in order to achieve optimal results.

Do clear aligners work?

Clear aligners are considered a safe and effective treatment, but it is important that you discuss all treatment options with your orthodontist so that you are fully informed when choosing an orthodontic solution.

In order to enjoy the best possible results from your Invisalign treatment, be sure to adhere to any instructions that your orthodontist gives you. This includes wearing your aligners for the recommended time period each day and removing them only when eating, drinking, brushing and flossing your teeth, and cleaning your aligners.
